I'd like to do this maybe for Christmas(thinking far ahead), but some LED taillights would be hella nice! I'm stuck between two it's a OEM vs. Aftermarket faceoff!
Option 1: OEM
These lights, the same one in the lead pic. These are the same lights used on the US Focus Electric(Why couldn't they use them for all US Hatches??) and Euro Foci. Since the Euro ST comes with just the "ST" badge and I've de-badged mine, it'd look more like a Euro car, in fact almost exactly like a Euro ST!
Option 2: Aftermarket
The aftermarket has some pretty cool options for the 3rd gen Focus. Originally I liked these lights which for some reason reminded me of the 997.2 lights; Idk, you tell me:
But then I found even cooler ones, because all those LED bulbs bothered me:
LED BAR!! And less LED bulbs. This is the smoked out version, but it comes in all red(as in not blacked out) and I'd go with those personally. Here's one more option for the aftermarket that I just found:
What do you think Oppo?

LED bar normal version.

Euro spec looks the cleanest so that's what I would go with.

the second to last ones. Sexy

Aftermarket tails always look horrible and dated after a year or two.

OEM

EDM tails. LEDs just look cheesy IMO especially on vehicles that didn't come with them factory, although I do like the sublty of those last ones...close 2nd

OEM EDM.
The aftermarket "smoked" ones are my second pick, though I wouldn't personally call them smoked. Clear lenses over black, but not smoked. They do look nice either way. Anyway, as other have said, aftermarket lights are rarely of as good quality as OEM ones. That, and I can imagine the clear lens versions showing tons of trapped grime under the lens in the edge area that I've annotated .

I have a feeling that in the clear version, these edges will show tons of accumulated trapped dirt.

Is this the fuel filler door? Never knew that's where it was.

The factory Euro ones get my vote. Depending where you live, aftermarket ones can be an issue when it comes time for a vehicle inspection. Of course you can always week keep the stock ones and just swap them back, unless wire splicing is required to install the aftermarket ones. (I've seen cheap ebay lights where this is the case. I don't recommend it.)

That's it! Push to open too. Actually one of the lazy reasons I wanted a Focus.

Personally, I'd go Euro OEM. They look a little cleaner and more subtle, but still a definite upgrade from stock. Second aftermarket ones come in second.

OEM. Focus nerds will give you approving nods for as long as you own the car.

1. What happened to you getting rid of it?
2. That's a mod you shouldn't do because it sounds like it'll cost a fair bit (>$100) and won't improve performance in any way.

Either option 1, or the last one.

1. Some financial things came up for my mother(will not explain), so She's holding off on the new car until next summer or just sometime next year.
2. Eh....this is true.

Something I would never personally spend my money on is aesthetic upgrades. Only functional ones. You should get coilovers!

I'd think downpipe.

Lightweight wheels/slicks.
But if you're going to get rid of it eventually, why modify it at all?
Modifying cars only makes sense if you're going to keep the car for a long time.

True. I'm very unsure at this point how long I'll have it; at least for another year at my guess..

I'll have my car for at least another 2 years, and that's not nearly long enough for me to justify any sort of modifications on it.

Our Subaru has the button where you open from in the car. I think VW's are like that too.

No, I mean you actually push that door and it pops open. :)

I knew what you meant. I was just saying our Impreza has the switch on the floor.

Ah. Why is it on the floor though?

Next to the trunk release. I have no idea why its there though. Probably so you dont hit it by accident.

I can't wait to get my FoST. About 7 weeks, max.

Them Euro's actually look sexy as hell. Don't let me down, if you need to change them, get those. We'll call the new Focus your Winter Beater. No one will know the difference, the lights are different bro.
